plot

Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds finds the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, confronting increasingly dangerous stakes, exploring uncharted territories, and encountering new life and civilizations. The crew will embark on personal journeys that will continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies.

scope

Ghost VFX artists in Copenhagen have proudly worked on both seasons of the show. For season 2, the work primarily consisted of complex cg and creation of the alien creature villains called Gorns.

"Season 2 took us to quite a lot of places - from amazing alien environments on planets to abstract dimensional creatures and odd anomalies. One of the larger vfx requirements was this season’s villain: alien creatures called the Gorns." - VFX Supervisor Ivan Kondrup Jensen

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

The final episode required visual effects work on several full cg space sequences featuring the cg Gorn characters, spaceships, planets and everything in between.

“The final episode is often a challenge due to an ever increasing complexity and the sheer volume of shots. Both the younger more agile “Gorn younglings” and the larger, heavier “adult Gorn” character are seen in an EV suit fighting our heroes in the final scene. The Gorns were initially filmed as either puppets or as a costume, but we ended up replacing or enhancing a good portion of them, mostly to allow for more dynamic body and facial motion." - VFX Supervisor Ivan Kondrup Jensen
